Kristina Devi Awatsu
Writer, Translator, and Editor
Looking for someone who is passionate about writing, connecting with an audience, and with years of knowledge about life in Japan? Then you’ve come to the right place.
I love writing. From a young age I won awards for my short stories, went on to publish academic articles in graduate school, and now I have numerous articles online ranging from J-E translations about science to informative pieces on having a child in Japan. I look at every piece I write, regardless of the topic, as a story, and in an age where visual medium is becoming more popular, I aim to help keep text in various forms alive, engaging, and thriving.
My background in academia and working for a public relations office at the top university in Japan, and one of the highest-ranking in Asia, has helped hone my craft so that I produce work that is high-quality and content-rich. Having lived in Japan for over a decade, I have a breadth of cross-cultural experience and hold JLPT N2 certification.
Below is a shortlist of some of my work.
